Understand Fafsa

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an application for federal financial aid while attending a higher education institution. The form is long and frustrating if there is little preparation before to complete the required information. A college financial aid office can help fill out the form, but with some prior knowledge, the form can be completed independently.


Instructions


1. Fill out the FAFSA paperwork manually or on the government website. This step requires your Social Security number, your W-2s, your federal tax return from the past year and/or your parents' federal tax return. If you do not have a federal tax return or if you are not financially independent, you will need to use your parent's income for the FAFSA. The financial information will be used to calculate the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which is the amount of money the federal government expects the family to contribute to higher education. FAFSA instructions are written line by line to guide students through the process.


2. Create a PIN number, if you applied online. This is optional, but it is a smart option. Tracking the results of your FAFSA, and the Student Aid Report (SAR), is easier if you have an online PIN number. If you are applying manually, retain the contact information for the FAFSA office. The SAR is the report generated based on the information given on the FAFSA. This report indicates the amount of federal aid allotted to the student.


3. Check for reception of your paperwork. FAFSA forms have deadlines; make sure yours is received in a timely manner. The online PIN or contact information is useful for this step of the process.

Survive The Mcat'S

The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT or MedCAT) is a "make-or-break" exam that goes a long way to determining your future as a student in medical school. High scores make med school admission a near certainty; low scores decrease the odds dramatically. The preparation for the exam is as important as the exam. Read on to learn more.


Instructions


1. Choose a pre-med curriculum. The MCAT covers all the basic sciences that are included in a solid pre-med course of study. There's nothing to stop a history major or a psychology major from sitting for the MCAT, but the preparation is far more intense.


2. Register for the test late in your junior year of college. Test scores are evaluated based on the completion of two-and-a-half to three years of undergraduate work.


3. Make a study plan. Create a three-month schedule and an outline for review with weekly goals. Evaluate your progress each week.


4. Take the practice tests under test-like conditions. An online question bank is an excellent study tool. Students report excellent test results from studying every single question in the online bank. Memorize the MCAT mnemonics. (See Resources.)








5. Bone up on test-taking skills. Study the art of the "educated guess."


6. Sign up for a prep course. Courses are available online, in a classroom setting, small group tutoring and by private tutor. Most test-prep companies guarantee results and are well worth the investment in your future.








7. Get in test taking shape. About three months before the exam, get in the habit of going to bed and rising at a regular time. Eat a healthy diet and workout to keep your mind sharp.

Take The National Registry Paramedic Exam

Take the National Registry Paramedic Exam.


The National Registry of Emergency Technicians offers a national certification exam to EMT professionals. This exam tests an EMT's ability to treat patients outside of a hospital setting. Completing this exam will make you more attractive to potential employers and may increase your earning potential. However, before taking the exam, you'll need to set up an account with NREMT and apply to take the test.








Instructions


1. Create an account with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at their website. After logging into your account, complete the personal account information fields. Make sure your name on the application is the same as your driver's license (which will be required when checking in for the exam).








2. Create a new application. After filling out your profile information, click on "Create a New Application." Review the personal information to make sure it's accurate and make any necessary corrections or changes.


3. Pay the application fee. There are two options for paying your application fee. You can pay when completing the application with a debit or credit card or choose to pay at a later date. If you decide to pay at a later date, login to your account and click on "Check Application Status." Then, select "application payment" when you're ready to pay. However, an Authorization to Test letter won't be sent until payment is made, so make sure to make payment as soon as possible.


4. Monitor your application status. Your application status can be monitored on the NREMT website by logging onto your account and clicking on "check application status." Once the application is approved, you can print your authorization letter, which will allow you to schedule a testing date and time.


5. Contact Pearson to schedule your exam. After receiving application approval, contact Pearson at the number on your letter to schedule your testing date and time. Rescheduling a test is permitted up to 24 hours in advance by contacting Pearson.

Master Lsat Reading Comprehension

One of the four scored sections on the LSAT is Reading Comprehension. The entire section has about 27 questions distributed over four passages, where one of the "passages" is actually a pair of two shorter excerpts. This part of the LSAT is challenging because you only have 35 minutes to complete everything-both reading the passages and answering all the questions.


The key to mastering LSAT Reading Comp is to improve your speed without sacrificing your understanding of the material. Here are tips for studying to improve your score.


Instructions


1. Know the format of this LSAT section. Reading Comprehension contains three passages of 400-600 words each, and one pair of passages that have 200-300 words each. Each of these four subject areas will be represented by a passage (or pair): humanities, law, natural science, and social science.


The Reading Comprehension questions cover main ideas, details, points of view, inferences, and logical structure of the passage. In the case of the paired passages, some questions will be compare/contrast.


2. When starting this section, do the easiest passages first, and save the hardest one for last. The paired passages are often easier, though they look intimidating. The passage dealing with law tends to be more dense and therefore harder. Take 30 seconds to skim the section to see which passages have more friendly topics, shorter paragraphs, and shorter words-these will be easier.


3. Read the passages carefully to understand the argumentative structure. Some LSAT passages are merely descriptive, while others are persuasive articles, but all follow a logical (and often predictable) pattern of reasoning. For example, many Reading Comprehension excerpts start out with the history of a problem or dilemma, followed by several possible solutions, the author's critique of these solutions, and finally the author's proposed solution. Knowing the structure will help you on many questions.


4. Be on the lookout for structural keywords, such as although, therefore, thus, however, but, nevertheless, furthermore, etc. Also look for these phrases: for example, in addition, on the other hand, etc. These words and phrases give you clues about the author's line of argument; they tell you when the author is reinforcing a point, or undermining it.


5. Keep straight the different points of view. There is always the author's view, but often the viewpoints of critics and other researchers are presented. LSAT Reading Comp questions will try to trick you by mixing up who says what, or who thinks what.


6. Use your pencil to actively highlight key parts of the LSAT Reading Comprehension passages, and to make margin notes about the structure. The physical act of writing helps your retain info and will improve your focus. One thing that makes LSAT passages hard is that they are boring! Stay focused.


7. Always practice with a timer. At first, you can give yourself 15 minutes to read a passage and answer seven questions. But gradually, you should work your way down to 9 minutes.


8. Never leave questions blank. A wrong answer is treated as a blank answer on the LSAT, so there is no harm in guessing. Even with random guessing, your chances are 20%. If you can eliminate a few, your chances increase.

Succeed On The Dental Admissions Test

The Dental Admissions Test is the standard admissions test required by dental schools in the United States. It is taken by all prospective dental school candidates. It is important to do well on the test, as it is considered one indicator of how well a student is prepared for dental school and if the candidate has the abilities required to succeed in a dental program.


Instructions








1. Complete the required courses for dental school. All Dental Admissions Test applicants must complete at least one year of college education that includes courses in biology and organic chemistry before taking the test. Most complete 2 or more years of college. However, examinees are urged to take the test long before they plan to enroll in dental school.


2. Study over a period of time rather than cram at the last minute. Tailor your college classes to include coursework that is relevant to the DAT. In addition to college-level coursework, enroll in an DAT preparation class or purchase a DAT preparation book to work through in your free time to help you prepare for the test.


3. Understand the format of the test. There are four sections. The Natural Science section lasts 90 minutes and has 100 questions. The Perceptual Ability section lasts 60 minutes and has 90 questions. The Reading Comprehension section lasts 60 minutes and has 50 questions. Finally, the Quantitative Reasoning section lasts 45 minutes and has 40 questions.


4. Take practice tests and assess your performance. Tailor a study program that addresses your weak areas. To improve your weak areas, enroll in a "refresher" course at school, take a DAT prep class or by seek individual tutoring.


5. Eat a well-balanced meal and get plenty of rest the day before the test. While this may sound like common sense, nerves, stress and last-minute cramming often prohibit this from happening.








6. Use stress relieving techniques to relax if you feel overly anxious before the taking the DAT. Breathe slowly and deeply. Meditate in order to focus your energy and calm anxiety before the test.


7. Read the directions to each section of the test thoroughly.


8. Rephrase difficult questions by singling out keywords and phrases.


9. Use all of the allotted time to take the test. Answered each question completely.

Crowns, gowns and runways have always been hypnotizing to the world. When it comes to beauty pageants, those who can no longer compete sometimes decide to run them. Perhaps you have a fascination with pageants and think you have what it takes to become a pageant director. You'll have interaction with contestants. You'll plan pageant events and shows. You can be a proud part of the pageantry community. Yes, you can go from watching on television to running the show.


Instructions


1. Get prepared. While there is no particular education needed, it is always helpful to be a prior committee member, judge, contestant, stylist, retailer, or photographer in a capacity that has exposed you to the industry. You can also become certified to judge pageants in the Miss America system, although this is not a requirement to become a director in other systems.


2. Choose your system. The Miss America Organization and the Miss USA Pageant are among the hardest to get directorships in. There are usually many waiting in line who have already put a significant amount of time and work. Shoot small by contacting state pageants for smaller systems, such as Miss United States or Miss Teen America.


3. Brush up on your history and understanding of the particular system. Learn who the current queens are, their scoring system and also general knowledge of the organization. Also decide where you'd be interested in specializing. However, being the business manager for the pageant is one of the key positions that leads to director.


4. Prepare a pageant resume. This will be different from your professional one. It will include you experience in the industry and any other points of interest. If a job is relevant to a directorship, such as events planning, fashion or public relations, you should include it.








5. Set up a meeting with the national director in a small system or the state/local director in a larger system. Ask about open positions for volunteers. Also ask if there are currently any directorships available, although working for a system for a few years is recommended.


6. Prepare for the meeting just like you would any other interview. Be more mindful of your attire as you should look like a pageant director by being polished and poised. Tell those doing the interview that you understand most directors and volunteers are unpaid or have small stipends. There are also others where you must pay directorship fees. Be open to these options.


7. Work in various capacities on the board that deal with both organization and those that deal directly with contestants, such as in outreach. Within a year, it might also be useful to work for another organization for more experience.


8. Continue to network with other systems and attend events like wardrobe showings, state pageants and popular preliminaries. Also consider becoming a pageant trainer for aspiring contestants, taking into account that there might be a conflict of interest.


9. Look into further training at this point. Some organizations in your area might offer pageant boot camp or even consider becoming a columnist and writer for a pageant magazine, such as "Four Points." This will increase your visibility and also make you desirable to other pageant systems.








10. Begin to re-apply for director positions after you've completed all of these steps and have been involved for 9 to 12 months.

Attending a college or university as a science major is a different experience from majoring in many other subjects. Unlike majors in which you can memorize and regurgitate information, you can only succeed as a science major by actually learning the concepts as they are taught. 1. Learn the science vocabulary terms. The sciences have keywords that you must learn to succeed as a science major. Pay attention to the root words because those will help you decode new vocabulary words as you encounter them.


2. Recognize that science concepts build upon one another. A science major is not one that you can succeed in if you cram for your tests the night before. Each concept builds upon the next. You need to keep up with the lessons as you go so that your study time for each science test is a review rather than learning new information.


3. Grasp general concepts before tackling more specific ones. For example, you need to understand what factors identify an insect before you are ready to move on to the factors that identify an ant. Start with the big picture and work toward the details.


4. Attend all labs. Labs are offered to help the student take the theoretical information they learn in the science classroom and apply it in a hands-on way. In order to grasp fully what you are learning as a science major, you need to attend and participate in all labs.


5. Take pictures of everything you do in the labs. Bring a camera to the labs and take pictures of what you are doing as you go. You can study the photos to help you remember what you did as you study for your science exams.


6. Look up and learn unfamiliar words. When you come across a word you do not know, whether in a lecture or in the textbook, look it up in a dictionary. You are going to need to know what the word means in order to understand what is being taught in your science classes.


7. Review all notes. When you study for a science exam, review all of your notes from the textbook, lectures and labs. Some people will even rewrite their notes to assist them in remembering the notes. Do not limit yourself only to the notes since the last test. Be sure to look over all notes from the beginning of class.


8. Learn the material in your non-science classes well. For example, science majors need a strong math background in order to succeed in their science classes. They also need to grasp concepts about other areas of science that are not part of their major, such as understanding chemistry and physics to succeed as a biology major.

Requirements For Joining The Peace Corps

The Peace Corps champions such issues as AIDS education, information technology and environmental preservation.


The Peace Corps was born out of Senator John F. Kennedy's 1960 challenge to students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. Today, more than 200,000 Peace Corps volunteers have served in 139 host countries.


Qualifications


Volunteers seeking to join the Peace Corps must commit to 27 months of training and service overseas; short-term assignments are not offered. During this time, volunteers undergo language training and service training. Volunteers with knowledge of a foreign language may qualify for placement in certain regions. While volunteers must be at least 18 years old, there is no upper age limit to join the Peace Corps. Frequently, the Peace Corps requires a combination of job experience and education. Opportunities for college graduates and community college students are available.


Application Requirements


The Peace Corps accepts applications year round; there is no cut-off date. On average, the application process takes nine months from completion of an application to departure for service; however, applicants are encouraged by the Peace Corps to apply nine to 12 months before they expect to depart for service. After receipt of an application, a Peace Corps recruiter will contact an applicant within two to three weeks.


Application Steps


The application process is made up of: an application; an interview; medical, legal, suitability and competitive reviews; an invitation; and preparation for departure. All volunteers must submit a completed application form, which includes two essays, three references, employment history, resume, community and volunteer activities, and educational background, along with a copy of college transcripts and an itemized list of the volunteer's financial obligations. A phone interview is intended to gauge the fit of the applicant with the Peace Corps.


Pay


The Peace Corps provides its volunteers with a living allowance, which allows volunteers to live in the same manner in which the people of their community live. Volunteers also receive complete medical and dental care and an end-of-service payment of $7,425 (before taxes). Although the end-of-service payment is intended to help volunteers transition back home, the money can be used for anything.

Write A Purpose In A Proposal Paper

A purpose statement should include reasons and benefits.








Proposals are a written form of persuasion. Effective persuasion, whether advertising for Girl Scout cookies, campaigning for a politician, or writing a proposal paper, should answer the question, "Why is this a good idea?" An effective political campaign doesn't just say, "Vote for Jim." It gives reasons for voting for Jim, even if it's because the competition is worse. It also explains how you will benefit by voting for Jim and what might happen if you don't.


Instructions


1. Describe the need for the proposal. What is the problem and why is the proposal necessary? Let's say, for example, you are proposing an advertising campaign about new recycling laws. In your purpose statement you might explain that people aren't recycling properly because they are unaware of the new laws and recycle.








2. Provide evidence to support your needs statement and include supporting data if possible. For example, the recycling company has reported that a high percentage of households are not conforming to recycling laws. As a result, they are sending contaminated loads to a landfill instead of recycling, and passing the disposal costs on to the municipality.


3. Describe previous attempts, if any, to address the problem or need. What was done to educate the community about the new laws, if anything? How is your proposal different?


4. Describe the expected outcome. Include who will benefit and how. For example, in the recycling example, you could explain the benefits as follows: individuals who recycle have a smaller environmental footprint, recycling helps divert waste from landfills and the municipality will save money on lower disposal bills.


5. Distance Learning For An Applied Linguistics Phd

Rhodes Scholarships


Every year, 32 Rhodes Scholarships are awarded to U.S. students. These prestigious scholarships pay for a student to undertake postgraduate studies at Oxford University in England for two years. The British Council and The World Trade Center Disaster Fund together provide scholarships for students affected by the events of Sept. 11 to study in the United Kingdom at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Marshall Scholarships


Every year, Marshall Scholarships help up to 40 American students study abroad in the United Kingdom. In order to be eligible, students must have successfully obtained an undergraduate degree, must intend to pursue a postgraduate degree in the United Kingdom, and must have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Tutor Fifth Grade Math

Mathematics is one subject that many parents find difficult to teach their children because the schools have changed teaching methods, books and curricula from when parents were in school. Keep in mind, the material hasn't changed, just the method of teaching.


Instructions


1. Read through the section you're going to tutor. Make sure you understand what and how it is being taught.


2. Ask your student to explain the section to you. This helps you see how much the child understands, and where he needs help.


3. Choose one problem from the section and work through it with your student. Ask her questions about the process as you complete the problem. "What do we do first?" "OK, what do we do now?"


4. If you're working on a word problem, be sure to check for understanding by asking "What are they asking for?" "How do you find the answer?" Have the child identify key information in the problem, also ask him to identify the extra or extraneous information.


5. Use manipulatives, charts or pictorials to demonstrate the problem, if appropriate.


6. Try to teach the topic in a manner similar to what the teacher and the book are using. But if the child is not getting it, use other methods. If you learned the topic differently, teach your method.

Study For The Patent Bar







Studying is essential for passing the patent bar exam.


The patent bar, also called the patent bar exam or registration exam, is a multiple choice test given by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) as part of the registration process for patent attorneys and agents. The patent bar covers the patent laws and rules and PTO procedures in patent cases. Because of the detailed nature and volume of material the patent bar exam covers, studying for the patent bar is essential to passing the exam.


Instructions


1. Read about the format and administration of the patent bar. The General Requirements Bulletin published by the PTO's Office of Enrollment and Discipline (OED) provides details about the patent bar. The patent bar is a 100-question multiple choice test given in two three-hour sessions. The questions for the patent bar are drawn from the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (MPEP), which is available online from the PTO website. The PTO publishes past exams and answers that show the question and answer format of the exam.


2. Study the patent laws. The patent laws are Title 35 of the United States Code (USC) and are listed in a section of the MPEP. Many questions on the patent bar come from sections 101, 102, 103 and 112 of the patent laws, so commit these sections to memory.


3. Analyze the patent rules to learn what is covered and how the rules extend the laws. Congress passes patent laws, while the rules are promulgated by the PTO. Be sure to know Sections 1, 3 and 10 of the rules, as these sections cover important rules. The patent rules are found in Title 37 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). A copy of the rules is contained in a section of the MPEP.


4. Master the PTO procedures in patent cases. The PTO procedures in patent cases are set forth in the MPEP. Examiners in the PTO use the MPEP as a guide to the procedures for examining patent applications. By studying the MPEP, you can learn how patent applications are examined and what the PTO is looking for when examining patent applications. Also, it is important to become familiar with the MPEP because you may refer to the MPEP during the patent bar.








5. Practice taking old exams. Take an exam without a time limit and use this as a baseline. Then, begin taking old exams with the time limit imposed (three hours for each 50 question section) and carefully review any incorrect answers. You can find old exams on the PTO website in the OED section.

Use Visual Clues To Teach Math Fact Families

Is your child having trouble learning math facts? Some children do not respond to the drills and flash cards that are traditionally used to teach them addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The strategy below relies on a remembered visual image instead of on calculating, knowing, or figuring out the answers. Your child will be thrilled with a new way that doesn't feel like math but works to store the math facts securely in his or her mind.


Instructions


1. Pick a math fact family that is difficult for your child to remember. For the purpose of these directions let's choose 7, 4 and 28. Draw an equilateral triangle in the center of an index card using a black marker. Remember that an equilateral triangle has three equal sides. Using a different color marker, write the numbers outside the triangle next to the points. Put 28 on top. Put 7 on the left and put 4 on the right. Using a third marker, draw a multiplication sign under the base of the triangle and draw one division sign next to each of the sloping sides.


2. Show the index card to your child but do not talk about math. Instead ask him to notice the visual information on the card. Say, "What shape is in the middle?" Answer: A triangle. "What color is the triangle?" Answer: Black. "How many numbers are on the card?" Answer: Three. "What color are the numbers?" Answer: Purple. "Which number is on top?" Answer: 28. "Which number is on the bottom right?" Answer: 4. "What else is on the card?" Answer: a multiplication sign and a division sign. "So, what is 28 divided by 4?" Answer: 7. "How do you know that?" Answer: Because it is on the card.


3. Ask your child which math facts are particularly difficult to remember. Then sit with her while she makes cards to illustrate each of these problems. Use different colors for the numbers and the signs. It may be helpful to make different colored triangles or to decorate the centers of the triangles so that there are different clues for different math fact families. Make three or four cards at a time being sure to have the same dialogue about how each one looks as modeled above in Step 2.


4. Take the cards away from your child. Using the same questions, review the cards. Say, "One of the cards has a purple 28 on top of the triangle. What number is on the bottom left?" If your child answers "7" congratulate him. Then ask, "What times 7 equals 28?" When he supplies the number 4, ask "How do you know that? You are absolutely correct." Ask, "Can you see a picture of that card in your mind? What color are the multiplication and division signs." Continue reviewing the way the cards look until your child is confident about the information.


5. Coach your child to use these mental pictures at school the next time there is a test or a drill on these facts. Assure her that she knows the answers now because she has stored the pictures in her mind. Tell her that if she is tempted to get stressed out or worried, she should stop and take a deep breath and then look at the mental picture contains the two numbers in the problem. The answer will be the other number on the triangle. By removing the pressure of doing math and by replacing it with the idea of creating a visual image, your child's math grade will improve. Her confidence will increase and her understanding will deepen.

Study for the MCAT Verbal Reasoning Section


Are you a premedical student that finds it hard to study for the MCAT Verbal Reasoning Section? You're not the only one. The Verbal Reasoning Section is the MCAT equivalent of a curve ball pitch. Many students before and after you have and will say that good verbal reasoning is an ability that you either have or don't have. This is largely untrue. There are definite steps you can take in your MCAT preparation that will help develop your verbal reasoning skills and give you a score you are happy with.








Instructions


1. Buy an MCAT prep book. Kaplan's MCAT study guide contains useful information and practice passages. It costs a little over $100 at the bookstore, but you can find it for even cheaper online.


2. Get used to reading about a wide range of topics. The MCAT Verbal Reasoning passages are not about science topics. Consider reading the Economist Magazine online. It's free to access the articles and you will find topics ranging from finance and economics to reviews on popular books. The articles are written for an educated audience and are similar in reading level and length to passages you will find in the MCAT Verbal Reasoning Section. And since they are online, reading the articles mirrors what it will be like the day you take the computer based MCAT.


3. Buy access to the online AAMC tests. There are about 10 old MCAT exams. The passages you find in those practice MCAT tests are actual passages. You can't get any closer to the real thing. Each one costs a little over $35.


4. Look at the very bottom of an MCAT Verbal Reasoning passage before starting to read the passage. Often you will find information on where the passage came from. Sometimes this gives clues about what tone, stance, or topic the author will concentrate on. It will help put your mind in the right frame.


5. Time yourself as you read through the passage. Many people read at different speeds. You may be reading too slowly, or you even may be reading too fast. The only way to find out is to time yourself.


6. Pace yourself. Figure out what is a good amount of time to spend on each passage and subsequent questions. You may be getting every question right, but then run out of time with one whole passage and set of questions left. This will damage you score. Performing well on the MCAT Verbal Reasoning Section is like running a marathon. You should stay steady and consistent and should be aware of what it's like before actually performing during the real exam.








7. Keep a few important points in your mind as you read each passage. Pin down the author's thesis, tone, concreteness, and other general ideas. Going into the set of questions knowing these will significantly help you narrow down your choices. It is very important to do this. Some premedical students get too caught up in the details of a passage and then can't answer the bulk of analyses questions.

Write A Graduate Research Paper

When pursuing your master's or doctoral degree, you will have to write several thoroughly researched, articulate papers. You must be able to display a deep understanding of the material you are covering and back your assumptions and arguments with evidence, whether from the materials you are covering or writings of other experts. Writing a proper graduate research paper requires much time and dedication; it usually takes months to produce the results your professors expect.


Instructions


1. Come up with an idea for your research paper. Examine the guidelines your professor has set for the paper as well as your own areas of interest when conceiving the basis for your paper. Collaborate with your professor and peers to ensure that your concept is unique and feasible.


2. Go to your university or college's library and go online to research what other experts have to say on your subject. Many colleges and universities allow students free access to databases such as LexisNexis and MLA Bibliography. Use a keyword search to look up publications about your topic; you can use these texts as primary and secondary sources to cite in your own paper.


3. Develop the thesis for your research paper; a thesis is an argumentative statement about subject you are writing about. If you are writing about an irrefutable fact, you will not have much to argue in your paper.


4. Draft an outline for your research paper. Include your thesis and secondary sources in your outline so that you can organize the flow of your paper. The outline will serve as the basis for how you establish your argument and provide support in the form of your own conclusions and those you have gleaned from experts during your research.








5. Create an annotated bibliography; an annotated bibliography includes a short paragraph about the content of the source. You can peruse your annotated bibliography when you write your first draft to determine which sources are going to be of most use to you.


6. Write your first draft of the research paper. Do not worry about trying to perfect your paper; the first draft will establish what you are arguing and the primary and secondary sources you will be citing. You will have the opportunity to hone your argument and research in later drafts.








7. Consult with your professor on the first draft. He or she will be able to provide valuable feedback and advice; regular communication with your professor will help you stay on track when writing the research paper.


8. Write your second draft, and beyond. You are not limited to a number of drafts you can write when preparing a graduate research paper. When you are satisfied with the paper you have produced, proof-read and edit it once more to ensure the best possible quality.


9. Prepare your bibliography, Works Cited or References page; the title will change depending on the style manual you are using. Citing all your sources is essential; it helps avoid accidental plagiarism and allows your professor to consult the appropriate texts or works when reviewing your paper. There are online resources you can use to format your Works Cited or Reference page, such as EasyBib and Son of Citation Machine; you can input the publication information about your sources, and these websites will generate your Works Cited or References.

What Do I Do If Reached My Student Loan Limit







Some types of student loans limit the amount that any one student can borrow in his lifetime. For example, the popular federal Stafford loan program limits undergraduate students to $23,000 in subsidized Stafford loans. You have a few options regarding continue your education if you have reached the limit on how much you can borrow.


Different Loan Type


Each type of federal student loan has a different limit. If you reach the limit on one type, you still might be able to borrow using one of the other types. For example, if you are at the limit for Perkins loans, you can switch to Stafford loans. If you have reached the limit for subsidized Stafford loans, you can still get unsubsidized Stafford loans, as long as you have not reached that limit. If you are in graduate school, you can get PLUS loans, which have no limit.


Private Student Loans


Private lenders do not set specific dollar limits on how much you can borrow per year. However, they do approve loans on an individual basis. If you cannot get approved on your own because you have debt that is dragging down your credit score, you might be able to have someone with excellent credit co-sign with you to get approved for another loan. You can usually borrow up to the cost of attendance for each school year.


Personal Funds


If you cannot borrow from any other source, you will need to pay your school bills with your own funds or money from family members and friends who are willing to contribute to your education. If you don't have enough money saved, you could take fewer classes per semester. That way, you can work more hours and earn enough to keep up with your expenses while you finish your degree.


Transfer Schools








If you are studying at a university with a high tuition costs, and you've reached your loan limits, you might want to consider transferring to a different school to finish your degree. Choose a school with a low tuition cost per credit to limit your expenses. You can also try to find a school near a relative who will let you live rent-free while you commute to school to save even more money.

Fun Things To Do When You'Re Bored

Sitting in waiting rooms, waiting for meals or standing in line are situations where you might be bored. Be bold and experiment with activities to keep you entertained. You'll capture the attention of others while amusing yourself. These activities are also a great way to pass the time.


Be a Robot in Public


Pretend you're a robot while walking down the street. Walk with stiff arms and legs. Make strange robot noises. Wear sunglasses to look at all the strange expressions you get from others This can be extremely hilarious and entertaining when bored.








Give Mental Scorecards


While sitting around waiting for a bus or your meal to arrive, glance around you. Look at someone and make a mental scorecard. Rate them in general. Rate their fashion, hair, manners and more. Think of comments to put on the scorecard. For example, she really needs to give that piece of pie back to the waiter.


Stare at Someone's Head


See whether others can sense you're watching them. Select a random person. Set the stopwatch timer on your cell phone or look at a clock. Stare at the back of the person's head. Quickly glance down or away when they turn around. Write down how long it took for them to look at you. Repeat with someone else. Give yourself points if you don't give yourself away by laughing.








Gargling Game


A gargling game works best with another person, but you can time yourself for this fun activity while you're bored. Fill your mouth with water. Set the stopwatch timer on your cell phone or look at a clock. Start gargling and making noises. The winner of the gargling game is the person who doesn't laugh, spit out their water or stop gargling first.


If you're playing by yourself, do this three times and see how much you can extend your time. It's harder than you think to keep a straight face while playing this game.

Deduct Prepaid College Plan Expenses

Paying college expenses is easier with prepaid tuition plans.


A qualified tuition plan, or 529 plan, is a long-term investment for parents or grandparents to gradually save for a child's college expenses. Prepaid college plans enable investors to lock in tuition rates for children well before they graduate high school. The federal government, along with most state governments, grant favorable tax treatment to these investments in education.








Contributions


Open a 529 plan for a child and make regular contributions to the fund. Choose an investment strategy, such as stock mutual funds or bonds. There are tax benefits on earnings, but you may not deduct these contributions on your income taxes. In fact, you may have to pay a gift tax on annual contributions that exceed the set limit. The IRS set the limit at $13,000 per year as of 2011.


Federal Tax Exemptions


The federal government does not impose taxes on any interest earned on investments through prepaid college plans. You must use the money to pay for qualifying college expenses for the named beneficiary. Qualifying expenses include tuition, books, college fees and computer technology designated for educational purposes. Some plans include funding for on-campus room and board as well. The government tax exemptions only apply to withdrawals from a 529 plan that go toward such expenses.


State Tax Exemptions


States sponsor prepaid college plans and encourage residents to invest in state colleges and universities. Some states make all qualified tuition plan earnings tax exempt, even those from out-of-state plans. Other states only give favorable tax treatment to plans for future students of home-state colleges. Still other states tax the earnings on all prepaid plans. Many states also tax certain transactions, such as rolling funds into a local plan from an out-of-state plan.


Tax Penalties


The funds from any 529 plan must go toward the qualifying college expenses of the student designated as the beneficiary in order to avoid federal taxes and tax penalties. The federal government taxes the earnings on these investments whenever benefactors make withdrawals from the funds for use in any other capacity. The IRS charges a 10 percent fee in addition to current income tax rates on the interest. States tax unqualified withdrawals in various ways.

North Carolina Pest Control License Exam Schools

Pest control professionals require licensing for human safety and environmental protection.


Pest control is an area of expertise in which safety is a primary requirement. Pesticides can pose a danger not only to pests but also to humans. Registration

Nursing Grad School Scholarships

There are a number of scholarships available for graduate nursing program.


Nursing graduate school scholarships are available from a number of different sources, including the U.S. Army, the American Cancer Society, the American Nurses Association and the Emergency Nurses Association Foundation, to name a few. Unlike a loan, scholarships are not intended to be repaid. A financial awards officer at the school you are attending may be able to assist you in navigating the various scholarships that are available, as well as provide due dates and applications for them. A number of scholarships can also be applied for online.








Army Health Care


Through the Army's Health Professions Scholarship Program, you can receive 100 percent tuition coverage for a "graduate-level health care degree at any accredited medical, dental, veterinary, psychology or optometry program in the United States or Puerto Rico," according to the program's website. There are also financial incentives, including a monthly stipend of $1,992 while you are in school. According to the website, qualifying medical and dental students are also eligible to receive a $20,000 sign-on bonus. To be eligible, the website states you must be a U.S. citizen with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school; must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited graduate program in the United States or Puerto Rico; must maintain full-time status during the length of the program; and must qualify as a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve. Upon completion of schooling, you will expected to remain in the Army for one year of service for every year you receive the scholarship.


The American Cancer Society








The American Cancer Society provides a scholarship for up to two years to students who are pursuing a masters degree in cancer nursing or a doctorate of nursing practice. The ENA Foundation's graduate scholarships range in value from $3,000 to $5,000 per year.

Anesthesiologist College Requirements

An anesthesiologist is a medical doctor with a specialty degree in anesthesiology. They work alongside surgeons and other physicians, administering medications in order to anesthetize the patient to pain during operations and other medical procedures. History


An anesthesiologist must receive his bachelor's degree in a pre-medical program from an accredited university or college before being considered for medical school. Score 700 On The Gmat

Admission to many competitive business schools requires a high GMAT score.








The Graduate Management Admission Test, GMAT, is the standardized test used by Business Schools throughout the country when selecting between applicants. The test is taken on a computer and is made up of three parts: verbal, quantitative and analytical writing. Although a score of 700 on the GMAT is higher than that scored by 90 percent of all GMAT takers, many of the top business schools have median GMAT scores at or above 700. While there is no way to guarantee a high GMAT score, there are a number of different ways to improve on the GMAT so that a score of 700 or higher is a realistic possibility.


Instructions


1. Enroll in a GMAT prep course to prepare for the GMAT. Prep courses are available at an actual test prep location or via live video streamed over the Internet. In addition to professional instruction, a whole host of prep materials are included that can help raise a GMAT score. Further, many test prep courses include simulated exams which can help reduce anxiety on the actual exam day.


2. Obtain GMAT test prep books in order to gain a better understanding of what information is needed for the exam as well as to develop a successful test taking strategy. In order to perform well on the GMAT, it is necessary to have a mastery of the materials as well as strategy for actually taking the exam. Test prep books can help with test taking strategy and timing issues.








3. Take advantage of the free GMAT practice materials offered by many of the top test prep companies. Practice questions and even full practice exams are available free of charge directly on the test prep company websites. While these free materials on their own will probably not be enough to get a 700, they will fine tune to the skills needed to obtain a high GMAT score.


4. Focus on the first five questions of each section as the exam uses the responses to these five questions to determine the difficulty level of questions asked later. It is essential to receive and answer difficult questions as they have the potential to raise the overall GMAT score. Because it is impossible to obtain a high score on the exam without doing well on the first five questions in each section, carefully consider and double check any answers for these questions.


5. Spend time taking practice tests under test like conditions. Because the actual exam can last up to three hours, take several full practice tests prior to the exam under exam conditions so that endurance will not be an issue on the exam day.


6. Dedicate as much time as possible to studying. While allocating several months for full time study will probably lead to burn out before the exam, several weeks of moderate study followed by a couple of weeks of intense study are necessary to adequately prepare for the exam. When trying to determine how much to study, a study plan that involves over a hundred hours of study spread out over a month or more is considered to be a very serious and demanding study plan.

Instructions


1. Follow individual plan instructions for making withdrawals for college expenses. Some states may require funds be distributed directly to an educational institution. Other plans may make disbursements or reimbursements directly to the account holder.


2. Maximize your tax-free earnings by withdrawing 529 money as needed, rather than in a lump sum. Check with your individual plan rules.


3. Time your withdrawals so that they occur without negative impact on your child's financial aid case. When you receive the money may also affect your eligibility for educational tax credits. Consult a financial aid or tax specialist first.


4. Make sure the expenses you're contemplating are eligible for 529 funds. The school must be accredited and expenses accounted for. Find guidelines by individual state plans at Saving for College online (see Resources below).


5. Withdraw funds for noneducational purposes according to your particular 529 account. Unless the beneficiary has died or no longer needs the money due to scholarships, you will pay a 10 percent penalty on earnings plus tax at your rate of income.
