3. Place the wooden blocks with the endcaps facing up on a table. Insert the free ends of the three-sided PVC pipe frame into the endcaps on the wooden blocks. The result should be a standing three-sided frame.

4. Outline the PVC pipe frame on one side with the loop (fuzzy) side of self-adhesive hook-and-loop tape. Cut the hook (prickly) side of the tape into smaller pieces and stick a piece on the back of pictures, letters, colored squares or other small objects. Place two or more of these objects on the eye gaze frame at a time.

6. Establish a strict study schedule. After school or after dinner are good times to study. Encourage the student to practice and drill with division flash cards and word game exercises. In order for the student to be competent he needs to know the material and needs to practice good study habits.

7. Figure out ways to study in applied situations. See if he can divide his backyard into quarters or eighths. Create word problems with a trip to visit Grandma using gasoline prices per gallon versus how much you paid to fill the tank.

Apply To The California State Colleges

Students can apply online to state universities in California.

The process of applying for college used to be a time-consuming and paperwork-laden process. Not so in California. The state university system has moved the entire application process online, including accessing state and federal financial aid grants. If you are prepared and diligent, you can apply and be accepted within a few weeks.

Instructions

1. Determine which school in the university system you want to attend. Keep in mind that California residents pay no tuition to attend the state's junior college system. Some factors to consider when choosing a university include: tuition, cost of books, lab fees, housing costs and the ability to participate in work study. Also, while it is not necessary to apply to a California State University system school, you can file for financial aid by clicking at the financial aid link at the CSU Mentor website. The link will take you to the federal government's free financial aid website. The information is automatically sent to the schools you choose on the application.

2. Log on the university's website if an on-site visit is not possible. Review the admission requirements and determine if you meet those requirements. Many universities in the California system generally require an essay as part of the admission package. An example of an essay topic would be to describe the impact earning a degree would have on your family. Campuses in the CSU system begin accepting Fall applications on Oct. 1 of the year before enrollment.

3. E-file the application at the CSU Mentor website. If you are completing the application online you must scan all of your paperwork into a computer portable document form and submit it with the application on the university website. Pay your application fee with a credit card or debit card. As of April 2011 the fee is $55.

4. Download the application and complete the form to submit by mail, if you don't have the ability to scan the documents. Attach your application fee, essay, transcript and letters of recommendation. Mail the paperwork to the university's admission office.

5. After your application is completed and submitted you should receive feedback from the school within four weeks. After four weeks, the CSU Mentor website has a tab for application status. The status page will give you an update and provide an admissions phone number for your chosen school if you have questions.

Organ donations are one of the most important lifelines across the United States and the world. With so many life-threatening diseases and possibilities that target the organs, having a fresh supply of donor organs is a struggle. Wait lists are long, the supply short. Although there are few organs available to give to each of those waiting for an organ transplant, there are life-saving organ transplant surgeries performed every day.

Process

Cadaver organ donation consists of removing viable organs from those who have passed away, then transplanting them into a living patient who needs it. Soon after a patient dies, if she is registered as an organ donor, her organs are immediately harvested. The harvested organs are then kept cold to delay the natural decaying process. Once an organ goes into the donor process, the wait list is addressed to see who is going to receive it. While the organ is in transit, the patient who is going to receive the organ is prepared for surgery. This ensures that once the organ arrives, the patient will be ready to accept the organ. The longer the organ is outside the body without a supply of fresh blood, the less chance the organ will be accepted once transplanted into the patient. Once the organ arrives, it is transplanted into the patient with hopes that it will not be rejected by the patient's immune system.

Lists

Cadaver organ donation consists of two main lists--the donor list and the waiting list. Both of these lists are organized by the United Network for Organ Sharing. The donor list consists of mostly patients who are not expected to survive much longer due to a chronic illness or brain damage. These donors have expressed a desire to donate the organs that have not been affected by their ailment. The waiting list is much longer than the donor list and consists of those waiting for heart, lung, kidney, pancreas, liver and kidney transplants. This list is organized by different criteria. These criteria can include, age, severity of disease, chance of survival, immediate need and lifestyle factors such as drug or alcohol use.

Supply

Unfortunately, the list of donor organs grows shorter as other factors are applied to donor organs that prevent them from being used. Terminal, Infectious diseases such as AIDS and other diseases such as cancer automatically prevent a donation. These diseases can hide in organs and possibly infect the new host with the terminal disease. Other factors that have caused a short donor list are myths that surround the organ donation process. Some people feel that if they are an organ donor, their doctors will not work as hard to save them if they become ill. Others believe they are too young or too old. Issues

Certain issues revolve around cadaver organ donations. The largest of these issues is organ rejection. The human body is set up in such a way that whenever anything enters the body that is not supposed to, bodily agents attack the invading substance regardless of whether it is good or bad. This is especially true with receiving a new organ. Before organ donations, a patient's immune system is usually artificially weakened to ensure that the organ is accepted. However, the body is unpredictable and in many cases still manages to reject new organ transplants.

Dangers

With any industry that has more demand than supply, a lucrative black market can develop. This is no different for the organ transplant market. Respond To Minor Problems In The Classroom

Respond appropriately to minor classroom disruptions.

Effective classroom-management strategies are essential to the success of any teacher. Teachers must know how the handle disruptive students while managing to keep the class under control and deliver the lesson. While there are some major problems that can erupt in the classroom, such as fighting, there are also minor distractions -- such as talking, students getting out of their seat without permission and gum-chewing -- that if not handled properly could take the entire class off track. When handled properly, minor problems can be extinguished quickly and without disrupting the lesson.

Instructions

1. Ignore the disruption. Sometimes students act out with the express purpose of trying to disrupt the lesson. Other times, a disruption is unintentional as in the case of a student so eager to answer that she speaks without raising her hand. In either case, stopping to address the issue may cause further distraction -- so it may be best to let it slide and move on with the lesson. Be careful when using this tactic, however, because you do not want to give students the idea that you are unaware of inappropriate behavior.

2. Circulate the room. Sometimes walking around the classroom is enough to discourage inappropriate behavior. Stand near the student causing the disruption and he most likely will correct his behavior.

3. Give a firm look to the misbehaving student. Some students can be discouraged from misbehavior with a simple look from the teacher. A stern look lets her know that her deeds have been seen and are unacceptable.

4. Verbally address the student causing the disruption. Calling on the student who is being disruptive will often distract him from his behavior. Call on him to answer a question or ask about his thoughts on the class discussion. Once the attention of the entire class has shifted to him, he will be more prone to correct his behavior and pay attention. This especially works on students acting up out of boredom. In those cases, involving them in the lesson is enough to encourage good behavior.

5. Enforce a consequence. If all else fails, enforce a predetermined consequence on the disruptive student. Teachers should always go over rules and consequences with the class at the beginning of the school year. In the case of a minor disruption, the consequence might be something as simple as removing the child from the activity or detention. More serious infractions might require a call home or a parent-teacher conference.

Care & Cleansing Of Body Drainage Tubes

Body drainage tubes are required in a wide variety of applications in the healthcare industry. Many individuals who receive home care use these tubes to drain excess fluids from the body. These tubes will, over time, become dirty or contaminated with use and must be cleaned to ensure the health of an individual. If you or a loved one is receiving home care, you may want to choose to maintain and clean body drainage tubes on your own. Fortunately, doing so requires very little effort, and it isn't difficult to learn.

Emptying the Drain Bag

After washing your hands with soap and water for at least 15 seconds, hold the drainage bag over a measuring cup (a doctor may have provided the cup for you to collect and monitor fluids being drained). The valve on the bottom of the bag should be turned counterclockwise, which will release the fluids into the cup. Place the bag on a clean sink and press the air out of it until it lies completely flat, and then turn the valve clockwise in order to close it up again. The drainage bag may now be reattached to the body or clothing.

Flushing Tubes

The tubes connected to the drainage bag will need to be flushed with a saline solution regularly to keep them from becoming contaminated. 10cc of sterile water (not tap water) or a sterile saline solution will suffice for flushing. Clean the flushing port with an alcohol swab, and attach the syringe containing the 10cc of solution to the port. Gently and slowly press the plunger down, releasing the fluid into the drainage tube. Do not continue if you feel any pressure or resistance---this is not normal and will require a medical care professional to tell you proceed. When you are finished with the procedure, simply remove and dispose of the syringe.

Tube Maintenance

Check the tubes often for any additional bending, cracking, or kinking. The tube should be transparent. If it appears to be covered inside with a film, or if you cannot see through the tube, it probably needs to be changed. Do not continue using tubes that seem to have sediment or buildup inside of them. If the outside of the tube becomes dirty, you can wash it off with a warm, soapy rag. Be gentle, and dry the tube when you are through cleaning it.

The applicant must also be at least 25 years old and demonstrate financial need. MMMF is part of the World Bank, and so applicants should be from lower- or middle-income World Bank member countries.

AAUW Selected Professions Focus Profession Fellowship

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has a Selected Professions Focus Profession Fellowship for African-American women seeking a graduate or post-graduate degree in fields such as medicine, law and business administration. AAUW awards fellowships of $500 to $12,000 a year to each successful female applicant.

Hispanic College Fund Scholarships

With the wide variety of sites students visit on a daily basis, it's important to give them a behind-the-scenes look at how they are created. An ideal way to do this is by creating Web design projects that allow high school students to explore design tools and techniques.

Start a School Blog

Instruct students to select a blogging platform like Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad or Wordpress to create a blog for the school. Ask them to design a header for the blog that includes the schools' colors, motto, mascot and emblem. Students should create an "about us" page which details information about the school and the topics the blog will cover. Blog topics might include school fashions, activities and events, sports team coverage or daily interviews with seniors who give tips about surviving high school.

Create an Online Portfolio and Resume

It's becoming increasingly important for job seekers to create an online presence to market themselves to potential employers. College admissions offices also use online portfolios and resumes to evaluate students applying to their schools. Have students put together a list of their skills, work and volunteer experiences. Design a Fan Page

Ask students to pick a model, actress, musician, entrepreneur or other influential figure they can create a fan page for. The fan page should include a bio about the person, their accomplishments, at least five photographs and a page with popular quotes the person has said in movies, interviews or during speaking engagements. Students should give the page a unique title and create a graphic header.

Teach Geometric Volume To Kids

Volume is the measurement of space taken up by something. Solids, liquids and gases all take up space. You can measure the volume of each of these. The term volume is used in math and science. Use these tips to teach geometric volume to kids.

Instructions

1. Show kids that volume is the space taken up inside of something. Look inside a jug of juice, a box of laundry soap or an ice cube tray. Volume is how much juice is in the jug, how much soap is in the box or how many ice cubes are in the tray.

2. Explain that volume is the measurement of space occupied in 3 dimensions. If you measure around something, you measure perimeter. If you measure the surface of something, you measure area. When you measure inside of something, you measure volume.

3. Point out that volume can change. When liquids are heated up, they usually take up more space than when they are cooler.

4. Look at the volume of containers. Use metric cubes to measure inside of boxes. See how many cubes can fit into the containers. The volume of something is always measured in cubic measurements.

5. Learn the formula for volume: V = b x w x h. B is the base or bottom of an object. W is the width. H is the height. Another way of writing the formula is l x w x h. L is the length. W is the width. H is the height.

6. Use these formulas for solid squares or rectangles. Write the answer in cubic units like inches cubed or cm cubed.

7. Draw three dimensional cubes of different sizes. Measure the length, width and height of the cubes. Multiply using the formula for volume. Compare your answers to determine which object has the greatest volume.

8. Use sugar cubes, dice or ice cubes to fill up a container for a more hands on way of comparing volume between two objects.

9. Teach kids that volume is measured using standard unit in the United States like ounces, pounds and tons. Canada uses the metric system which measures volume in grams, kilograms and metric tons.

Get A Visiting Visa To India From The U S

All U.S. citizens planning to visit India must aquire a visitor's visa.

The exotic nature of India, with its rich and unique culture, has made it a desired destination for many American travelers. A visiting visa for India is the same as a tourist visa. The visiting visa/ tourist visa applies to persons who will not be working or conducting business in India, and will be going to experience India.

Instructions

1. Log onto the Indian Visa website at Travisa (see recourses section). The Indian Embassy is outsourcing most visas processing to Travisa. You will have to go through this website in order to complete the visa application and have it processed.

2. Start the application. Click on the link at the top of the page called "Get an Indian Visa."This will redirect you to a new page. Click on the box in the middle of the page that says "Start a New Application."

3. Decide whether you would like to apply by mail or apply in person. The application will have to be processed in person if you need it expedited. Otherwise by mail is the most convenient and recommended option.

4. Click on the "Apply by mail " link. Select "Tourist visa" when it asks what kind of visa you are applying for. You cannot say longer than six months, and you will not be conducting business or working of any kind. Complete the last three questions about residency and citizenship information.

5. Fill out the online application. The application will require you to create a login account with an email address. There will be several simple questions on it regarding you passport information, residence information, and citizenship information. You must pint and sign the application and turn it in with the other required documents.

6. Gather all of the required documents. These documents will include two passport-style photographs, photocopy of proof of address (this can be determined by government issued ID with an address on it), photocopy of birth certificate, a passport (the real thing, not a photocopy) with at least six months left before expiration after the issue date of the visa and with at least two blank pages, and a money order for the appropriate amount of the processing fees (including mailing fees).

7. Submit your request. Send all documents to the address provided on the website for the center nearest you. Or submit the application in person at a Travisa office. Office locations are available on their website.
